Submit and track proposals

Most changes you make in the portal are proposals: you submit them, and EEHM staff review them before they become official. This page explains the shared workflow behind every proposal type.

The five proposal types

Each type has its own section in the sidebar, but they all work the same way:

  • Builder Proposals — new builders you propose to add.
  • Staff Proposals — new staff members.
  • Profile Proposals — a new role for someone already on your staff.
  • Compliance Proposals — certifications, professional development, exams, and field evaluations.
  • Equipment Proposals — new equipment.

Builder edits are tracked differently

A proposed change to an existing builder (see Manage builders) does not appear in the Builder Proposals list and has no detail page. Instead, while it's under review, that builder's row on the Builders page shows a Pending edit badge; when EEHM approves it, the row updates in place. Everything else on this page describes the five list-backed proposal types above.

How a proposal moves through review

  1. You submit it. After you submit, the proposal lands in the matching proposals list with a Pending status, and EEHM staff are notified.
  2. EEHM staff review it. They take one of three actions:
    • Approve — the change is applied to your live records.
    • Needs info — they need more from you before deciding.
    • Reject — the change won't be made, with a reason.
  3. You see the outcome. Open the proposal to read any note staff left.

Reading a proposal's status

Every proposals list shows a status badge on each row:

  • Pending — waiting for EEHM staff to review.
  • Approved — the change has been applied.
  • Needs Info — EEHM staff asked for more information (see below).
  • Rejected — declined, with a reason on the detail page.

Select any row to open its detail page, which shows the submitted values, who submitted it and when, and — once reviewed — who reviewed it and any note.

When EEHM needs more information

If a proposal comes back as Needs Info, two things happen:

  • A banner appears on your dashboard linking to each proposal that's waiting on you.
  • The proposal's detail page explains what's needed and gives you a link to submit a new proposal with the added information. You can reference the original proposal in the new one.

Proposals aren't edited in place — you respond by submitting a fresh proposal with the correct details.

Tips

  • Before proposing a new builder or new staff member, check the duplicate warning the form shows you — it prevents creating a second copy of a record that already exists.
  • To add a role to someone already on your staff, use Propose new role from their staff detail page rather than a new staff proposal. See Manage staff and roles.
  • Use the Feedback link on any page if a proposal is stuck or you're unsure which type to use.
